What'd the nurse say about the jaundice? Lay him by a sunny window for a few minutes at a time? That's what I've always heard that we're supposed to do, but since my kids didn't have that, I don't really know if medical professionals actually recommend that or not.

This is my first to have jaundice. the nurse said as long as he is nursing well, is not lethargic, is having dirty diapers, no fever, then he is fine. I am seeing our pediatrician Monday for newborn check and circumcision, so we will get bilirubin level checked then. We are very unsure about the whole jaundice thing because none of ours have had it. But we are trying not to worry too much and just wait till Monday.

Oh, yes she did say to either take him outside in the sun for a few minutes several times a day or to sit in front of a window while I'm feeding him. Neighbors will love that, won't they?

If the neighbors are looking in your windows, then they'll get what they deserve! :)

Julie, Gavin had jaundice, and it was almost gone before his one week check up with the ped. I was told to nurse him as much as possible(not that they don't do that anyway!) and to keep the blinds open so the sunlight could hit his skin-not so easy in Nov, but he was fine, and is perfectly healthy now. A lot of babies get it, not that that makes it any easier to not worry!

All my four had jaundice... Amanda was probably the worst, but Bailey sure was yellow too... I guess by the last two I was used to yellow babies and only thought about it when someone would say how yellow they looked (like mom)...
I'll never forget Matt pushing Amanda around the yard in her stroller with only a diaper to get sunlight on her little yellow body. They did several blood tests following her birth but she did end up okay. Seems like a couple of weeks did the trick.

I remember Bailey being yellow. Will looks much better today. He seems to be more alert as well. And he is eating like a champ, round the clock!
